Wildlife Removal in Sheppard West

Sheppard West is a mixed corridor of postwar homes, mid-rise apartments, and retail plazas stretched along Sheppard Avenue, with the Sheppard West TTC station and the Barrie GO rail line cutting through. The rail corridor is the neighbourhood's clearest pest pathway — rats and mice travel the tracks and embankments and push into the homes and plazas immediately north and south of Sheppard, while the avenue's commercial strips add flies and mice to the ground-floor retail and restaurants.

The south edge borders Downsview Park, so raccoons, squirrels, and wasps move off the open parkland into the nearest residential blocks, and ongoing park-edge redevelopment keeps displacing wildlife and drawing rats to the construction sites. The apartment buildings along Sheppard carry bed bugs and cockroaches through shared pipe chases, giving the corridor both a wildlife and a vertical-building problem at once.
